What is RFID Solutions?

RFID Solutions from POS Emirates is a software platform plus the hardware and services around it. The software collects reads from UHF RFID readers, filters and de-duplicates them, links each tag to an item, asset or person and turns the result into stock counts, movement events, alerts and reports — or feeds them to your ERP, WMS or POS.

Because radio-frequency identification does not need line of sight, hundreds of tagged items can be read per second: a whole stock room, a pallet passing through a dock door or a crowd walking through a gate.

Who is it for?

RFID pays off wherever many items move, get counted or must not go missing:

  • Fashion, footwear and department store retailers doing daily stock counts and loss prevention
  • Warehouses and 3PLs in Jebel Ali and KIZAD verifying inbound and outbound pallets
  • Hospitals, laundries and hotels tracking linen, uniforms and equipment
  • Universities, government entities and contractors auditing assets and tools
  • Event organisers and venues using wristbands for access and payments

Key features

Reader management

Configure fixed, handheld and portal readers from Zebra, Impinj, Chainway and others from one console.

Middleware & filtering

De-duplicate, filter by zone and antenna, and convert raw EPC reads into business events.

RFID inventory counts

Count a store or stock room in minutes with a handheld; reconcile against the system and post adjustments.

Tag encoding & printing

Encode and print UHF labels with Zebra RFID printers; GS1 SGTIN or custom numbering.

Zone & dock tracking

Fixed readers at doors and docks record what moved where and when, with direction detection.

Loss-prevention alerts

Alarm or notify when unsold items or restricted assets pass an exit portal.

ERP / WMS / POS integration

Push stock, movements and audits to SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Odoo or POS Emirates software.

Dashboards & reports

Read rates, stock accuracy, movement history and exception reports per site.

Benefits

  • 98%+ inventory accuracy

Daily RFID counts replace annual audits and catch discrepancies while they can still be fixed.

  • Hours saved every week

Counting, receiving and searching for items take minutes instead of shifts.

  • Shrinkage stopped at the door

Exit portals identify exactly which items left unpaid — not just that an alarm went off.

  • Designed for your environment

Tags and readers are tested on your metal shelving, liquids and textiles before you buy.

RFID that is designed, not just sold

RFID projects fail when tags are chosen from a catalogue and readers are bolted to a wall without testing. POS Emirates approaches every RFID solution as an engineering project: we survey your site, test tags on your actual products and fixtures, model read zones and only then propose hardware and software. The result is a system that reads what it should — and nothing it should not.

Our RFID software sits at the centre, turning millions of raw tag reads into a handful of meaningful business events.

Key capabilities

Inventory counting and reconciliation

Store and warehouse staff count with a handheld reader while the app shows progress against expected stock. Missing and unexpected items are listed instantly; adjustments post to POS Emirates inventory software or your ERP. Retailers typically move from one annual count to a daily one with the same team.

Fixed readers, portals and dock doors

Readers at receiving docks, stock-room doors and shop exits record every movement with direction. Inbound shipments are verified against the ASN without opening boxes; outbound orders are checked for completeness; unsold items crossing the exit trigger an alert that names the item.

Asset, people and vehicle tracking

The same platform tracks tools between sites, IT assets in offices, linen through laundry cycles, students and visitors through gates and vehicles through barriers using windshield tags — each with a workflow template that POS Emirates configures for you.

Tag encoding and printing

Encode and print UHF labels in-house with Zebra RFID printers using GS1 or your own numbering, or order pre-encoded hard tags for metal, textiles and outdoor use from POS Emirates.

Integration and middleware

  • Cloud or on-premise edge middleware with store-and-forward for unreliable networks
  • Connectors for SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo and POS Emirates software
  • REST API and webhooks for custom systems

Regulatory notes for the UAE

UHF RFID equipment must operate in the TDRA-approved 865–868 MHz band; all readers supplied by POS Emirates are compliant and configured accordingly. Data is hosted in the UAE or on your premises.

Pricing explained

Software is licensed per site by capability. Hardware is a one-time purchase: tags from a few fils to a few dirhams each depending on type, handheld readers from around AED 4,500 and fixed reader kits with antennas from around AED 6,500. Every project is quoted after a free site survey so there are no surprises.

How a project runs

  1. Site survey and requirement workshop
  2. Tag testing on your products, fixtures and environment
  3. Solution design with read-zone modelling and budget
  4. Pilot in one store or area, measured against accuracy targets
  5. Rollout, integration, training and AMC

Most pilots are live within four to six weeks of approval.

Frequently asked questions

What is RFID and how is it different from barcodes?

RFID uses radio waves to read tags without line of sight, so hundreds of items can be counted per second from several metres away. Barcodes must be scanned one at a time and be visible. RFID costs more per tag but saves enormous labour where many items are counted or moved.

How much does an RFID system cost in the UAE?

A retail RFID inventory setup starts at around AED 499 per month for software plus a handheld reader from AED 4,500 and tags from AED 0.35 each. Warehouse systems with fixed readers start from AED 1,200 per month plus reader kits from AED 6,500. Every project is quoted after a free site survey.

Does RFID work on metal or liquid products?

Yes, with the right tags. On-metal tags and specially tuned labels read reliably on metal shelving, tools and bottles. POS Emirates tests candidate tags on your actual products before you commit.

Can RFID integrate with my ERP or POS?

Yes. The middleware pushes stock counts, movements and alerts to SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo and POS Emirates POS and inventory software, and exposes a REST API for other systems.

Is UHF RFID legal in the UAE?

Yes. UHF RFID operates in the TDRA-approved 865–868 MHz band. All readers supplied and configured by POS Emirates comply with UAE regulations.

How accurate is RFID inventory counting?

Well-designed retail RFID systems achieve 98–99% inventory accuracy, compared with 65–75% typical for barcode-based stores. Accuracy depends on tag selection and reader placement, which is why POS Emirates pilots every solution first.
